Harold W. Billington

Harold W. Billington, 96, of Decatur, IN, died Sunday morning, Nov. 12, 2017, at Markle Health & Rehabilitation.

Mr. Billington was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army Air Corps as a staff sergeant technician. He was a John Deere diesel mechanic at Berne Hardware for more than 45 years and later worked for Paul Reidenbach John Deere Equipment for six years, retiring in 1982.

He was born Jan. 25, 1921, in Ithica, MI, to William and Mabel Jackson Billington. He married Ilva Sprunger on Dec. 1, 1946, in Berne, and she preceded him in death in 1990. He later married Eileen Hall, and she preceded him in death in September of 2014.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Wilson, of New Jersey; four sons, Allen (Edith) Billington, of Geneva; Marland Billington, of Muncie; Roy (Sharon) Billington, of Ossian; and Leland Billington, of Rockford, OH; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Calling is Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., with a service following at 4 p.m., at Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel, in Bluffton. Rev. Don Rentschler will officiate. Following the service, military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by Bluffton American Legion Post 111 and the United States Army Honor Guard. Burial will be at M.R.E. Cemetery, in Berne, at a later date.
