Helen J. Bradburn

Helen Jeanette Bradburn, 107, of Huntington, IN, and a former resident of Markle, IN, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, at 11 p.m. at Heritage Pointe of Huntington.

Mrs. Bradburn was a cook at Union Center School for several years. She was a teacher for 27 years at Lake James Christian Assembly. She taught children’s church for many years at Markle Church of Christ, where she was known for her Scene-O-Felt activities, and played xylophone in the church orchestra. She later taught a class at Ozark Bible College and was sent to teach in the Holy Land and in Hawaii.

She was born May 8, 1910, in Bippus to Milward and Mary Rupley Overholt. She married Roderick J. Bradburn on Feb. 7, 1935, in Huntington, and he preceded her in death on April 25, 1966.

Survivors include three daughters, Eunice Youkey, of Markle, and Marvel Crumpacker and Marcella “Marcie” Degitz, both of Fort Wayne; three sons, Marvin Bradburn, of Rockledge, FL; Myron Bradburn, of Fort Wayne; and Vernon Bradburn, of Ossian; two sisters, Donna Brown, of Markle, and Joyce Kinsey, of The Village, FL; 23 grandchildren; 73 great-grandchildren; and 33 great-great-grandchildren.

Calling is Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee St., Markle. A service will be held on Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, at 11 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at Markle Church of Christ, 455 E. Morse St., Markle. Interment will be at the Markle Cemetery.
