James S. Romary

James Stewart Romary, 76, of Roanoke, IN, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017, at Grey Stone Health and Rehabilitation, Fort Wayne.

Mr. Romary graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1959 and from International Business College in 1965. He was a retired salesman. He worked for Durkee Food for 25 years and had also worked at Harold Lincoln, in Toledo, OH. He was a veteran of the United Sates Navy. He was a member of the American Legion Post 160 and St. Joseph Catholic Church, both in Roanoke.

He was born July 24, 1941, in Fort Wayne to Cyril and Thelma Armstrong Romary. He married Joyce E. Young on June 10, 1966, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 26, 1994.

Survivors include a son, Kevin (Tammy) Romary, of Huntington; and three sisters, Betty Hallgren, of Noblesville; Carol (James) Kohrman, of Fort Wayne; and Patricia (Lester) Berkheiser, of Willis, TX.

Calling is Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, Huntington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, at 11 a.m., with calling one hour prior to Mass, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 641 N. Main St., Roanoke. Rev. Dale Bauman will preside. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Huntington, at a later date.
