Arturo 'Art' Saldivar

Arturo “Art” Saldivar, 69, of Pierceton, IN, and having family members in Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017, at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester.

Mr. Saldivar served in the United States Air Force from 1970 to 1971 and earned an engineering degree in electronics and robotics from ITT Technical Institute, Fort Wayne. He retired from Zenith Corporation in Glenview, IL, in 1998. After retirement, he worked for U.S.S.I., in Columbia City, and Zimmer Biomet, in Warsaw. He was a member and deacon of the Pierceton Presbyterian Church and a member of Pierceton American Legion Post 258, A.E.P.I . Fraternity of ITT and the National Honor Society.

He was born Oct. 12, 1948, in Snyder, TX, to Rodolfo Sr. and Piedad Rodriguez Saldivar. He married Diane M. Dielmann on May 12, 1984, in Sterling, IL, and she survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Phillip Saldivar, of Columbia City, and Arthur Carl (Leah) Saldivar Jr., of Huntington; a daughter, Jennifer (Thomas Jr.) Hylton, of Delphi; two brothers, Rudolph “Rudy” Saldivar Jr., of Indianapolis, and Ernesto “Ernie” Saldivar, of Warsaw; three sisters, Ophelia “Micki” Schofner, of Florida; Ernestina “Tina” Cantu, of Sterling, IL; and San Juanita “Jane” Saldivar, of Rock Falls, IL; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service, with military honors, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, at 2 p.m. at the Pierceton Presbyterian Church, 309 S. First St., Pierceton.
