James R. Stout

James Ray Stout, 93, of Van Buren, IN, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017, at Heritage Pointe of Warren.

Mr. Stout graduated from Van Buren High School in 1942. He served in the United States Army during World War II with the 101st and 82nd Airborne. He retired from Fisher Body, in Marion, after 30 years of service and was a lifetime member of Central Christian Church, in Van Buren.

He was born July 27, 1924, in Fulton County to Alfred C. and Mabel James Stout. He married Norma J. Smith on Nov. 1, 1947, and she preceded him in death on March 24, 2006.

Survivors include two sons, Gregory (Elizabeth) Stout, of El Paso, TX, and Jan Stout, of Indianapolis; four daughters, Peggy Huntzinger, of Fort Wayne; Susan (Harry) Penny, of Altoona, PA; Ronda (Steven) Brown, of Yorktown; and Leslie (Brian) Linn, of Van Buren; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Calling is Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Central Christian Church, in Van Buren. A service will be held at the church on Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, at 11 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service. Interment, with military rites, will be at the Van Buren Cemetery.
