Ned M. Simons

Ned M. Simons, 90, of Huntington, IN, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at Heritage of Huntington.

Mr. Simons graduated from Roanoke High School in 1944 and served in the United States Army as a sergeant during World War II. He served as an elected official in Huntington County government for 28 years.

He was a life member of Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church, Roanoke, and was a member of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America.

He was born Dec. 6, 1926, in Roanoke to Evan D. and Effie Morrow Simons. He married Janell K. Paul on Aug. 4, 1963, in Roanoke, and she survives.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Marcina K. Simons, of Edmond, OK; and a son, Craig S. Simons, of Roanoke.

Calling is Wednesday, Sept. 20, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Heritage of Huntington, 1180W-500N, Huntington, and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, Huntington. A service will be held at the mortuary on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, at 10 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service. Rev. Joel Yeager will officiate. Burial will be at Pleasant Chapel Cemetery, Roanoke, with military rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689, Huntington.
