Jim E. 'Gummy' Godfroy

Jim Eugene “Gummy” Godfroy, 78, of Huntington, IN, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017, at 8:46 p.m. at his home.

Mr. Godfroy graduated from Huntington Catholic High School in 1958. He worked at Our Sunday Visitor for 22 years and, after retirement, worked as a part-time bartender. He was a member of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and a Third Degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 1014, both in Huntington.

He was born Aug. 18, 1939, in Huntington to Ralph E. ‘Bud’ and Halcyon J. McClurg Godfroy.

Survivors include a brother, Jack Godfroy, of Huntington.

Calling is Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, Huntington. Rev. Stephen Colchin will lead recitation of the rosary at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at 10 a.m., with calling one hour prior to Mass, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. Rev. Colchin will preside. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington.

Memorial gifts may be made to Huntington Catholic School or for Masses at St. Mary Catholic Church in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington.
