Robert A. Hartle

Robert A. Hartle, 76, of Huntington, IN, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, at 12:55 a.m. at Tipton Place, Huntington.

Mr. Hartle graduated from Huntington Township High School in 1959. He was employed as an announcer for WHLT radio in Huntington and WBCH radio in Charlotte, MI. He later owned and operated Hartle’s Lawn and Garden Sales and Hartle Trucking.

He was a member of New Hope United Brethren Church and a former member of Huntington Jaycees, Kiwanis Club, Young Republicans and Civil Defense Corps.

He was born Aug. 29, 1941, in Huntington to W. Harry and Roberta Young Hartle. He married Sallie J. McDaniel on March 29, 1975, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 8, 2014.

Survivors include two sons, Douglas Allen (Dawn) Hartle, of Fort Wayne, and David Daniel (Stacy) Miller, of New Albany; two daughters, Barbara Lynn (Lisa Brown) Jones and Ann Marie (Troy) Smart, both of Huntington; a brother, Bryan William (Sandy) Hartle, of Huntington; a sister, Carole June (Al) Baker-Hohl, of Huntington; seven grandchildren, Austin Hartle, Abbie Hartle, Josh Smart, Megan Smith, Emily Jones, Drake Miller and Morgan Miller; and one great-grandson.

Calling is Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, from 9 a.m. to noon, with a memorial service following at noon, at New Hope United Brethren Church, 2001 Engle St., Huntington.
