James P. 'Jim' Wensil

James P. “Jim” Wensil, 73, of Wabash, IN, and having family members in Huntington, IN, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, at 2 a.m. at the Visiting Nurse Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.

Mr. Wensil worked for Container Corporation, in Wabash, for 37 years and retired in 2016. He was a member of Southside Free Will Baptist Church, in Wabash. He had lived in Wabash since 1979.

He was born Feb. 18, 1944, in Albemarle, NC, to James F. and Lorene Luther Wensil. He married Carolyn Stephens on Oct. 18, 1964, in Raeford, NC, and she survives.

Additional survivors include a son, James C. “Chris” (Susan) Wensil, of Ponte Vedra, FL; a daughter, Michelle (Brian) Smith, of Wabash; a sister, Vivian Bankhead, of Goldsboro, NC; six grandchildren, Amanda (Jason) Garrison, of Huntington; Aaron Brown, Allison Smith and Sarah Smith, all of Wabash; and Hannah Wensil, of Orlando, FL; and a great-granddaughter.

Calling is Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Home, in Wabash. A service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Southside Free Will Baptist Church, 360 Columbus St., Wabash, with Rev. Tim Webb officiating. Burial will be at Falls Cemetery, in Wabash.
