James H. Gamble

James H. Gamble, 93, of Huntington, IN, died Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at 4:10 a.m. at The Tipton Place, Huntington.

Mr. Gamble graduated from Huntington High School in 1942. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked in the service department at NIPSCO for 25 years. After retirement, he resided in Florida with his wife for 22 years. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Huntington.

He was born Feb. 24, 1924, in Huntington to Ernest and Etta Crago Gamble. He married Willodean J. Shaffer on Oct. 31, 1946. She preceded him in death on Oct. 8, 2013.

Survivors include two sons, Richard “Rick” (Lana) Gamble, of Warren, and Tim (Sarah) Gamble, of Bippus; a daughter, Michelle (Dave) Mauger, of Anderson, SC; a sister, Martha Schmittler, of Andrews; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Calling is Thursday, July 13, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a service following at 11 a.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. Rev. Stephen Colchin will preside. Burial with military rites will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Marion.
