Arlen M. Sands

Arlen M. Sands, 77, of Huntington, IN, died Saturday, June 24, 2017, at 10:02 p.m. at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Mr. Sands graduated from Huntington Township High School in 1957. He served in the United States Air Force as a sergeant during the Vietnam War. He retired from the Huntington County Community School Corporation, where he worked in maintenance for 22 years. He was a member of Faith Community Church of God, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689, American Legion Post 7 and Moose Lodge, all in Huntington.

He was born Dec. 4, 1939, in Huntington to Albert and Gladys E. Hasty Sands. He married Marsha I. Bowman on Jan. 10, 1970, in Huntington, and she survives.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Amy (Timothy) Roberts, of Huntington; a son, Eric (Gena) Sands, of Roanoke; two sisters, Rhea (Richard) Zickafoose, of Huntington, and Lois Bidwell, of Wabash; and five grandchildren.

Calling is Wednesday, June 28, 2017, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, in Huntington. A service will be held at the mortuary on Thursday, June 29, 2017, at 10 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service. Rev. Micah Mobley and Rev. Steve Stull will officiate. Those unable to attend may view the service on the Bailey-Love Mortuary channel at www.livestream.com. Burial will be at Lancaster Cemetery, Huntington County, with military rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689, of Huntington.
