Bessie Martz, 90, of Garrett, IN, and having family members in Roanoke, IN, died Sunday morning, June 18, 2017, at her home.
Mrs. Martz was a homemaker and had worked as a seamstress at Peerless Cleaners and F&B Cleaners, in Fort Wayne. She was a former member of Colony Heights Church of Christ, in Fort Wayne.
She was born June 10, 1927, in Clarksville, MI, to William and Mabel Jackson Billington. She married Clifton LaVaughn Martz on June 10, 1948, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 1995.
Survivors include two daughters, Charyl (Michael) Alexander, of Roanoke, and Donna (Kris) Oler, of Churubusco; three sons, Leslie (Patricia) Martz, of Angola; Brad (Diana) Martz, of Fort Wayne; and Rand (Carla) Martz, of Garrett; two brothers, Raymond (Ina) Billington, of Baltimore, MD, and Harold William “Bill” Billington, of Linn Grove; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A service was held on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, with Rev. K. Paul Maurer officiating. Burial was at Ray Cemetery, in Monroe.
