Maribelle A. Bechstein

Maribelle A. Bechstein, 95, of Huntington, IN, died Saturday, June 17, 2017, at 3 p.m. at Heritage Pointe of Huntington.

Mrs. Bechstein graduated from Huntington Township High School in 1940. She worked at a telephone office for a year and at JC Penney for two years. She retired from Bechstein’s Super Valu Store, in Huntington, which she co-owned with her husband.

She was a life member of St. Peter’s First Community Church, in Huntington, where she sang in the choir and served on many church committees. She was named a Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary. She volunteered for the Red Cross and Miller’s Home and served with the Huntington Hospital Guild. She was one of the last surviving members of the Penguin Club, which formed in 1938.

She was born Dec. 28, 1921, in Huntington County to Paul D. and Clella Harris Bouman. She married Lewis Earl Graham on June 21, 1942, in Huntington County, and he preceded her in death on July 7, 1951. She married Nelson Bechstein on May 24, 1953, in Huntington, and he preceded her in death on July 13, 1992.

Survivors include a son, Paul J. Graham, of Huntington; a daughter, Candace (Anthony Sr.) Lisinicchia, of Huntington; a stepdaughter, Kay (Bruce) Stanton, of Huntington; a sister, Virginia (Herbert) Oden, of Huntington; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Calling is Wednesday, June 21, 2017, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Bailey-Love Mortuary, in Huntington. A service will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at 10 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at St. Peter’s First Community Church, 206 Etna Ave., Huntington. Rev. Raymond Scribner will officiate. Burial will be at Lancaster Cemetery, in Huntington County.
