Loraine J. Oxley

Loraine J. Oxley, 96, of Huntington, IN, died Monday, May 8, 2017, at 4:41 a.m. at Oakbrook Village.

Mrs. Oxley was a 1940 graduate of Eminence High School, south of Indianapolis. She lived in Oaktown during World War II and worked at a naval facility, filling cups with blasting powder. She had also worked at restaurants, including the Wooden Shoe for four years, and at RCA in Indianapolis. After moving to Huntington, she worked at Schacht Rubber Company for 17 years and at H.K. Porter for 11 years.

She was born April 4, 1921, in Morgan County to Daniel F. and Mary R. Wilhite Pleake. Her first marriage was to Malcolm Buckles, and they divorced. She married Herbert D Oxley on May 16, 1958, in Huntington, and he preceded her in death in 1989.

She is survived by her caregiver, niece Jeanette (Marvin) Tudor, of Huntington; a brother, Daniel “Bud” Pleake Jr., of Brazil, and a sister, Maxine English, of Bainbridge.
