Catherine Mae Childers, 89, of Avilla, IN, and having family members in Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at her home.
Mrs. Childers was a homemaker.
She was born March 17, 1928, in Knott County, KY, to Patton and Amy Gayheart Cox. She married Edsel Childers in March 20, 1948, in Kentucky, and he survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Robert (Kathy) Childers, of Leo; three sisters, Ann (Monte) Conley and Gwen (Larry) Pant, both of Kendallville, and Elizabeth Girolami, of Florida; a brother, Melvin (Marge) Cox, of Huntington; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Calling is Friday, April 21, 2017, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Hite Funeral Home, in Kendallville. A service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 1 p.m., with calling one hour prior to the service. Rev. Charles Mosley will officiate. Burial will be at Rehoboth Cemetery, near Albion.
