Janet J. Karst, 81, of Huntington, IN, died Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at 8:17 a.m. at Visiting Nurse & Hospice, Fort Wayne, IN.
Mrs. Karst was a bus driver for the Huntington County Community School Corporation for more than 25 years. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir, Extension Homemaker’s Club, Sigma Beta Sorority and active with the 4-H fair for many years.
She was born Aug. 9, 1935, in Huntington to Virgil and Chella Howenstine Juillerat. She married Thomas J. Karst on July 24, 1954. He preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 2001.
Survivors include three daughters, Teresa (Joe) Updike, Elaine (Joe) Carroll and Jennifer (Todd) Little, all of Huntington; two sisters, Janice Schroeder, of Huntington, and Jarice (Don) Davenriner, of Warren; four brothers, V. Kenneth (Linda) Juillerat, of North Manchester; Victor (Kim) Juillerat, of Whitehouse, TN; Van (Kathy) Juillerat, of Andrews; and John (Ruby Perez) Juillerat, of Columbia City; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Calling is Friday, April 21, 2017, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, Huntington. Recitation of the Rosary will be held prior to the visitation hours at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 10 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. Rev. Stephen Colchin will preside. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington.
