Wanda L. Beeching

Wanda Louise Petttigrew Beeching, 93, of Columbia City, IN, and having family members in Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at Sycamore Village, Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Beeching attended Churubusco High School. She worked with her first husband in the operation of the family’s dairy farm and had also worked as a ward clerk on the medical floor of DeKalb Memorial Hospital. She volunteered at Whitley County Memorial Hospital and served on the Board of Volunteers. She was a member of the Dunfee Missionary Church, Columbia City Business and Professional Women’s Club, Whitley County Democrat Ladies Club, Women’s Missionary Society of Dunfee, Red Hat Society and the Woodland Senior Center in Columbia City.
She was born July 15, 1923, in Thorncreek Township to Heber G. and Nina L. Konkle Grable. Her first marriage was to Alverl Pettigrew, who preceded her in death. She married Frederick Beeching on March 26, 1977, and he also preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons, Jim (Jenny) Pettigrew, of Columbia City; Dennis (Linda) Pettigrew, of Butler; and Steve Pettigrew, of Huntington; a daughter, Vicki (Brian) Goloembiewski, of Porter; two stepdaughters, Marlyn (Tom) Pleiman, of Arizona, and Jana (Dave) Thompson, of Ohio; two stepsons, Don (Dottie) Beeching, of Michigan, and Robert (Robin) Beeching, of Illinois; two brothers, Gerald (Carolyn) Grable, of Columbia City, and Vernon Grable, of South Bend; a sister, Peggy Hostetler, of Plymouth; 28 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Calling is Monday, April 10, 2017, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at 10 a.m., with Dennis Rowe and Jerry Blanchard, pastors, officiating.
