Bonnie L. 'Mam' Burns

Bonnie Lou “Mam” Burns, 77, of rural Columbia City, IN, and having family members in Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at 9:55 p.m.

Mrs. Burns grew up in the Gas City area and earned a GED. She had been employed at Fibre Form and United Technologies-Essex Group, both in Columbia City.

She was born Oct. 12, 1939, in Gas City to Herschel and Maggie Lee Ray Cox. She married Larry Lee Burns on Dec. 24, 1959, and he preceded her in death in 1995.

Survivors include three sons, Rick Marker and Joseph Burns, both of Fort Wayne, and Danny Burns, of Albion; a daughter, Deborah (Scott) Slayton, of Huntington; a brother, Harley Cox, of Lake Havasu, AZ; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Calling is Sunday, April 2, 2017, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 207 N. Main St., Columbia City. A service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, April 3, 2017, at 2 p.m. Burial will be at South Park Annex Cemetery.
