Roger Wayne Cavins, 64, of Huntington, IN, died Friday, March 17, 2017, at 7:22 a.m. at Coventry Meadows Rehabilitation Center, in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Cavins earned a bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Huntington. He had worked as a sheriff’s deputy in Perry County, OH, and at Ken-Koat, in Huntington.
He was born Aug. 6, 1952, on Harlan County, KY, to Jess and Anna Jean Osborne Cavins.
Survivors include two grandsons, Dominic Shively and Braden Rice, both of Huntington; three sisters, Carla (Kenneth) Black and Brandy Berryman, both of Huntington, and Barbie Butler, of Wabash; and four brothers, William Denver (Judy) Cavins Sr., Jess (Mary) Norris and Joshua Cavins, all of Wabash, and Melvin Norris, of Huntington.
A service will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at 2 p.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash. Rev. Ralph Johnson will officiate. Burial will be at Friends Cemetery, in Wabash.
