M. Iilene Hornbaker

M. Iilene Hornbaker, 100, of Montpelier, IN, died Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at 12:10 p.m. at Heritage Pointe, in Warren, IN, where she had lived since May of 2011.

Mrs. Hornbaker graduated from Montpelier High School in 1934. She was retired from Sheller Globe, in Montpelier, where she had worked in the payroll department. She was a lifetime member of Pleasantdale United Methodist Church, in Montpelier, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of a women’s group. She was a past president of the Montpelier Senior Citizens.

She was born Nov. 27, 1916, in Montpelier to Charley H. and Effie May Hiser Schwarzkopf. She married Paul L. Hornbaker on Feb. 16, 1935, in Hartford City, and he preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Wallace P. Hornbaker, of Clermont, FL; a son-in-law, Arthur Wade (Nancy) Carnes, of Montpelier; five grandchildren, Lynn (Rick) Hughes, Steve Carnes, Denise (Dale) Price, David (Cindy) Hornbaker Sueanne Carnes; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Calling is Sunday, March 19, 2017, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, 109 W. Windsor St., Montpelier. A service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, March 20, 2017, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Dick Case officiating. Interment will be at Brookside Memorial Park, in Montpelier.
