Gerri L. Longanecker, 70, of North Manchester, IN, and a native of Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at 2 a.m. at Timbercrest Senior Living Community, North Manchester.
Mrs. Longanecker graduated from North Central High School, in Indianapolis, in 1965 and earned an associate degree in office administration from Manchester College in 1992. She worked as a fashion model in high school and later worked as a receptionist and secretary at North Central Co-op. She was a member of the First Brethren Church, in North Manchester, and was active in the Brethren Way of Christ for many years.
She was born July 31, 1946, in Huntington to Carl Sr. and Mary Reeves Herndon. She married David F. Longanecker on Sept. 10, 1966, and he preceded her in death on May 9, 2014.
Survivors include two sons, J.D. (Jo Music) Longanecker and Jacob A. (Sarah) Longanecker, both of North Manchester; a daughter, Krishna D. (Jeff Ferranti) Longanecker, of Springfield, MA; a brother, Carl Herndon Jr., of Louisiana; two sisters, Carolyn (Gene) Green, of Indianapolis, and Sylvia Jackson, of Louisiana; and six grandchildren, Andrew J. Longanecker, Ashlyn L. Longanecker, Carter A. Ferranti, Alexander D. Ferranti, Landon D. Longanecker and Ethan M. Longanecker.
Calling is Wednesday, March 15, 2017, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 Ind.-114 West, North Manchester. A service will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2017, at 10 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at the First Brethren Church, 407 N. Sycamore St., North Manchester. Rev. Kurt Stout will officiate.
