Michael D. Maxson, 67, of Kendallville, IN, and having ties to Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, March 1, 2017.
Mr. Maxson graduated from East Noble High School in 1968 and served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971. He was licensed as an addictions counselor and had more than 30 years of research and recovery work. He had been employed by Tri State Lumber, as a disc jockey, and at Washington House, Huntington Hospital, Parkview Behavioral Hospital and AADP before retiring from Serenity House Inc., in Auburn, in 2014.
He was born Dec. 5, 1949, in Kendallville, to Richard and Berniece Johnson Maxson.
Survivors include a daughter, Breanna (Joshua) Vire, of Fort Wayne; two brothers, Brad (Jane) Maxson, of Noblesville, and John (Kathy) Maxson, of Langley Air Force Base, VA; and two sisters, Shirley (Mike) Ihrie, of Kendallville, and Amy (Denny) Jones, of Ellettsville.
A service was held on Sunday, March 5, 2017, at Hite Funeral Home, in Kendallville, with Patrick Leaky officiating. Burial was at Lake View Cemetery.
