Mary E. Buchanan

Mary Etheleen Buchanan, 77, of Liberty Center, IN, and having family members in Warren, IN, died Friday evening, Oct. 7, 2016.

Mrs. Buchanan graduated from Liberty Center High School in 1957 and started her career as a switchboard operator in Liberty Center. Later, she and her husband owned the Liberty Center Coffee Shop for many years. The couple was instrumental in founding Calvary Chapel and Harvest Time Bible Church, both in the Bluffton area.

She was born Jan. 28, 1939, in Liberty Center to Omer and Orah Culp Grover. She married Earnest Lee “Earnie” Buchanan in Bluffton in June of 1958, and he preceded her in death on April 21, 2015.

Survivors include a son, Terry Buchanan, of Liberty Center; three daughters, Sheree (Allen) Lawhorn, of Liberty Center; Tracy (Darrell) Reynolds, of Ossian; and Christiana David, of Bluffton; three sisters, Jone Smith and Carolyn Garman, both of Warren, and Cindy Valentine, of Bluffton; two brothers, Jim (Diane) Grover, of Bluffton, and Bill (Melvra) Grover, of Vera Cruz; four grandchildren, Amanda Huffman, Scott Lawhorn, A.J. Reynolds and Gracie David; and a great-grandson.

Calling is Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a service following at 7 p.m., at Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel, in Bluffton. Rev. Tony Robles will officiate. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, in Warren, at a later date.
