Annabel Ring

Annabel Scher Ring, 93 of Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016, at 5:45 p.m. at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.

Mrs. Ring was a 1941 graduate of Andrews High School and had attended Huntington College. She served in the United States Navy during World War II for three years as a hospital corpsman and dental technician. She had worked at the Huntington hospital and Myers Funeral Home over the years. She was an active leader and supporter of the Huntington County 4-H and was a member of Forever Friends.

She was born April 24, 1923, in Huntington to Walter and Geneva Shanks Robb. She married Fredrick William Scher, and he preceded her in death on May 1, 1987. She later married Robert Flora, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 17, 1999. She married Mel Ring on Dec. 26, 2004, and he survives.

Additional survivors include four daughters, Carol (Don) Scher-Doswell, Gloria (Alan) Heizer, Christine (Steve) Ellet and Elizabeth Brundige; four sons, Gregory (Heidi) Scher, Douglas Scher, Marty Scher and Brad Scher; a stepdaughter, Barbara Rutledge; a stepson, Carl (Beth) Ring; a sister, Wilma Bolssen; 24 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

Calling is Monday, Sept. 26, 2016, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, in Huntington. A service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016, at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, in Huntington.
