Mable F. Robinette

Mable Florence Robinette, 98, of Fort Wayne, IN, and a native of Huntington, IN, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, at Coventry Meadows, in Fort Wayne.

Mrs. Robinette graduated from Huntington High School and earned a master’s degree in education. She began her teaching career at Clear Creek School and went on to work as a first grade teacher at Waynedale Elementary School, in Fort Wayne, for 33 years. She retired in 1980.

She was a charter member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and was a past worthy matron of Order of the Eastern Star Trinity Chapter 576. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the National Education Association, serving as chair of District Global Concerns and nomination committee. She was also a member of the Fort Wayne District of United Methodist Women, Delta Kappa Gamma and Green County Federated Clubs, where she served as president in 1955-56. She volunteered at the VA Hospital and at Lucille Raines Home, in Indianapolis.

She was born in Huntington to George and Florence Parsons Kohr. She married Robert F. Robinette, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include two granddaughters, Cheri (Benny) Trevino and Robin (Tim) Tribbett, both of Fort Wayne; and four great-grandchildren.

A service was held on Monday, Aug. 29, 2016, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Fort Wayne, with Rev. Brian Witwer officiating. Burial was at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Huntington.
