Frances Louise Linderer Bennett, 95, of Huntington, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016, at Oakbrook Village, in Huntington, where she had been a resident since Feb. 19, 2015.
Mrs. Bennett graduated in 1938 from Lafayette Jefferson High School, in Lafayette, and was a former resident of Linden. She was a member of the Linden United Methodist Church, where she was active in the choir, Methodist Women’s Club, Sunday school and the Edna Circle. She had been a member of the Order of Eastern Star for many years, serving as worthy matron and Esther; was a long-time member and former officer of the Linden MNO Home Economics Club; and was a member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau Leaders.
She was born Oct. 3, 1920, in Lafayette, to August L. and Jessie O. Shaw Linderer. She married Charles Bennett Jr. on Aug. 4, 1940, at the Elston Presbyterian Church. He preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 2001.
Survivors include a son, Larry G. (Glenda) Bennett, of Romney; a daughter, Diana K. (Ronald) Meier, of Huntington, with whom she made her home for 13 years; seven grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Calling is Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016, from 10 a.m. to noon, with a service following at noon, at Linden United Methodist Church, in Linden. Rev. Dr. Veryl C. Roth, of Huntington, will officiate. Interment will be at Linden Cemetery.
