Raymond J. Karst

Raymond J. Karst, 95, of Fort Wayne, and a former resident of Huntington County, IN, died Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at Ashton Creek Health and Rehabilitation, in Fort Wayne.

Mr. Karst graduated from Huntington Catholic High School and served in the United States Army during World War II. He was the owner and operator of Crescent Avenue Gardens, in Fort Wayne, until retiring and wintering in Florida. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, in Huntington.

He was born March 19, 1921, in Huntington County to Edward and Anna Scher Karst. He married Georgia M. Allred on April 30, 1949, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, in Huntington, and she survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Terry (Maggie) Karst, of Churubusco, and Gary (Jada) Karst, of Fort Wayne; two daughters, Joyce (Denny) Drury and Kim (Jack) Koehne, both of Fort Wayne; a sister, Annette Morrow, of Roanoke; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Aug. 1, 2016, at 11 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1502 E. Wallen Rd., Fort Wayne. Rev. Polycarp Fernando will officiate. Burial will be at Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
