Robert R. 'Bob' Bechtold

Robert R. “Bob” Bechtold, 73, of North Manchester, IN, and a native of Huntington County, IN, died Thursday, July 21, 2016, at his home.

Mr. Bechtold was a lifelong self-employed farmer. He had also served as a volunteer firefighter with the Chester Township Fire Department for 18 years. He was a member of Congregational Christian Church, in North Manchester; a 51-year member of Deming Lodge 88; and a member of Fraternal Order of Moose.

He was born Dec. 22, 1942, in Huntington County to Duane and Ginerva Auker Bechtold.

Survivors include a son, Bret (Michelle) Bechtold, of North Manchester; a daughter, Beth (Dave) Wampler, of North Manchester; a sister, Kay Eads, of Wabash; three grandchildren, Austin Bechtold, Trent Bechtold and Craig (Deanna) Wampler, all of North Manchester; and two great-grandchildren.

Calling is Sunday, July 24, 2016, from noon to 7 p.m., with a Masonic service following at 7 p.m., at McKee Mortuary, 1401 Ind.-114 West, North Manchester. A service will be held on Monday, July 25, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Congregational Christian Church, 310 N. Walnut St., North Manchester, with Rev. J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Servia.
