Lonnie H. Lantz

Lonnie Harold Lantz, 78, of Huntington, IN, died Monday, April 25, 2016, at 3:35 p.m. at Autumn Ridge Rehabilitation Centre, in Wabash.

Mr. Lantz served in the United States Navy and the United States Army. He also worked as a firefighter on the Huntington Fire Department. He worked for Erie Lackawanna, Conrail and Norfolk Southern as a brakeman for 34 years, retiring in 2000.

He was born Oct. 24, 1937, in Elkhart to William and LouElla Tyler Lantz. He married Elna Louise Vance on Feb. 2, 1960, at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Debra Keen (Randy) St. Pierre, of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, and Sherry Pauline (Craig) Harts, of Kokomo; three sons, Rick DeWayne (Lynn) Vance, Ronnie Darrell Keen and Denny Ray (Taffy) Lantz, all of Huntington; a brother, Edward D. Lantz, of Dayton, OH; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Calling is Friday, April 29, 2016, from 10 a.m. to noon, with a service following at noon, at Bailey-Love Mortuary, in Huntington. Rev. Matthew Snodderly will officiate. Those unable to attend may view the service on the Bailey-Love Mortuary channel at www.livestream.com. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, in Huntington, with military rites performed by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689, Huntington.
