C. Berniece Griner

C. Berniece Griner, 104, of Warren, IN, died Sunday, April 24, 2016, at 9:15 p.m. at Heritage Pointe, in Warren.

Mrs. Griner was a 1930 graduate of Roll High School and graduated from Marion College, now known as Indiana Wesleyan University, in Marion. She retired from teaching at Darrough Chapel School, in Kokomo, where she had taught third grade for 35 years. She previously taught at Van Buren, Gas City and Kokomo schools. She was a member of the Indiana State Teachers Association.

She was born Oct. 13, 1911, in Jackson Township, Wells County, to Abijah Dehaven and Maggie Bell Byall Johnson. She married Homer E. Griner on June 17, 1944, and he preceded her in death.

Survivors include a stepson, Bob Griner, of New Jersey.

Calling is Wednesday, April 27, 2016, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, 109 W. Windsor St., Montpelier. The family will hold a service at the funeral home on Thursday, April 28, 2016, with Ginny Soultz officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memory Gardens, in Kokomo.
