John W. North

John Wayne North, 75, of New Haven, IN, and a native of Huntington, IN, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.

Mr. North was a member of Lifeway Wesleyan Church, Fort Wayne, where he sang in the choir. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He retired from Navistar, where he had worked for 30 years, and later drove a bus for East Allen County Schools. He refereed basketball for 12 years.

He was born April 30, 1940, in Huntington to Roy and Lucille Creager North. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cheryl.

Additional survivors include a son, Anthony Wayne North, of Fort Wayne; four brothers, Ron (Inga) North, of LaFontaine; Tom (Peggy) North, of Roanoke; Don (Jolene) North, of Gwinn, MI; and Jim North, of Huntington; a sister, Judy North, of Fort Wayne; a granddaughter, Miranda North; and a great-granddaughter.

Calling is Monday, Feb. 8, 2016, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Lifeway Wesleyan Church, 7722 Moeller Rd., Fort Wayne. A service will be held at the church on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 206, at 1:30 p.m., with calling one hour prior to the service. Rev. Rick Fletcher will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, in New Haven.
