James 'Jim' South

James L. "Jim" South, 79, of Roanoke, IN, died Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, at 9:57 p.m. at Sycamore Village, Fort Wayne.

Mr. South served during the Korean War and was a road truck driver for Preston Trucking Company, Yellow Freight, Fort Wayne. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Roanoke American Legion Post 160.

He was born Sept. 29, 1935, in Argos to James W. and Nyla Stone South. His mother survives in Huntington. He married Mary Ann Prus on Oct. 26, 1963, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Huntington, and she survives in Roanoke.

Also surviving are a daughter, Leslie (Mark) Miller, of Dayton, OH; two sisters, Claudia Randol, and Sharon Pugh, both of Fort Wayne; three grandchildren, Christopher (Cristin) Miller, of Clermont, FL; Ryan (Lindsey) Miller, of Zionsville; and Derek (Kaylee) Miller, of Fishers; and three great-granddaughters.

Calling is Friday Aug. 28, 2015, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Roanoke Memorial Chapel of Deal-Rice Funeral Homes, 240 Crestwood Drive, and Saturday Aug. 29, 2015, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. prior to the 9:30 a.m. funeral mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 641 N. Main St., Roanoke. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Roanoke.
