Norma J. Johns

Norma Jean Johns, 87, of Huntington, IN, died Monday, June 29, 2015, at 5:05 a.m. at OakBrook Village, in Huntington.

Mrs. Johns had worked as a tutor in the Huntington County Community Schools. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Rosary Sodality and the Knights of Columbus Ladies’ Chapter. She had also volunteered with several organizations in Huntington.

She was born March 20, 1928, in Holbrook, IL, to Lloyd and Jeannette S. Weir Howard. She married George Johns on Sept. 2, 1950, in Waukegan, IL, and he survives.

Additional survivors include six daughters, Kathy Johns, of Payette, ID; Karen (Rick) Chesterman and Carolyn (Chris) Bucher, both of Huntington; Mary (Sam) Lash, of Rome City; Ivy (Kevin) Selig, of Andrews; and Lenore (Bill) Larsen, of Fort Wayne; four sons, Steve (Marcy) Johns, of Russia; Thomas (Jeanne) Johns, of Huntington; Robert Johns, of Fort Wayne; and Leonard Johns, of Florida; 30 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Calling is Wednesday, July 1, 2015, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, in Huntington. A service will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015, at 10 a.m. at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, with Rev. Ron Rieder officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
