Harold R. Feighner

Harold R. Feighner, 89, of Columbia City, and a native of Roanoke, died Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at 10:20 a.m. at Miller’s at Oak Pointe, in Columbia City.

Mr. Feighner graduated from Lafayette Central High School in 1943 and served with the United States Navy during World War II. He worked as a wire enameller at Rea Magnet Wire, in Fort Wayne, for 33 years until his retirement in 1984. Following retirement, he worked as a driver for the Indiana Auto Auction, in Fort Wayne, and for the Whitley County Council on Aging.

Mr. Feighner lived in Thorncreek Township, Whitley County, most of his adult life. He had also lived in Huntington County and near Dunfee.

He was born Nov. 16, 1925, in Roanoke to Russell A. and Mary E. Shatzer Feighner. He married Edwina Dawkins on Dec. 14, 1946, in Fort Wayne. She preceded him in death on Feb. 25, 2011.

Survivors include two sons, Allan R. Feighner, of Eagle Point, OR, and Ronald Feighner, of Las Vegas, NV; two daughters, Shirley (Dennis) Teders, of Colorado Springs, CO, and Susan Stallard, of Fort Wayne; a sister, Tricia Roberson, of Fort Wayne; a brother, Ray Feighner, of Lafayette; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Calling is Sunday, April26, 2015, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, in Churubusco. A service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, April 27, 2015, at 11 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service. Rev. Jamie Hart of Harvest Bible Chapel will officiate. Interment, with military rites, will be at the Christian Chapel Cemetery, in Merriam.
