Jane A. Burket

Jane A. Burket, 79, of Huntington, IN, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, at 6:45 p.m. at Heritage Pointe, in Warren.

Mrs. Burket graduated from Tipton High School in 1953. She had worked as a beautician at Jane’s Beauty Shop, in Tipton; in her husband’s dental office, in Huntington; and in the commissary at the Huntington County Jail. She was a member of Central Christian Church, in Huntington, where she was active in many capacities. She was a member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship and Chi Chapter of Tri Kappa, in Huntington. She had also been active in the LaFontaine Arts Council, the revitalization of the LaFontaine Center and as a volunteer with the Red Cross.

She was born Dec. 4, 1935, in Tipton to Herman and Fern Overdorf Sweet. She married Richard L. Burket on June 16, 1957, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 27, 1988.

Survivors include a son, David M. (Amy) Burket, of Indianapolis; two daughters, Carole A. (Jeff) Cragun, of Huntington, and Kathi Lynne (William) Saffer, of Fort Wayne; two sisters, Emma (Mick) McClurg, of Denver, CO, and Martha (Phil) Heron, of Tipton; seven grandchildren, Ryan Saffer, Sean Saffer, Austin Saffer, Jordan Tackit, Nicholas Tackitt, Jacob Cragun and Taylor Burket; and one great-grandchild.

Calling is Sunday, March 1, 2015, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, in Huntington. A service will be held at the mortuary on Monday, March 2, 2015, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Chris Hayden officiating. Those unable to attend may view the service on the Bailey-Love Mortuary channel at www.livestream.com. Burial will be on Monday, March 2, 2015, at 2:30 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, in Tipton.
