Doris E. Conwell

Doris E. Conwell, 88, of Huntington, IN, died Tuesday, Dec.23, 2014, at 1:43 a.m. at Heritage Pointe, in Warren.

Mrs. Conwell, a 1944 graduate of Huntington Township High School, was most recently employed by the Fort Wayne Auto Auction. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was a former member of the American Quarter Horse Association, was a founding member of the Chief LaFontaine Saddle Club and helped organize the Huntington County horse and pony clubs. Her horse led the centennial parade for the city of Huntington in 1948. She was director of the Huntington Township Marching Band Twirlers for eight years.

She was born March 18, 1926, in Huntington to Gaylord F. and Flora N. Umphress Adams. She married Don M. Conwell on Sept. 21, 1947, in Huntington. He preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1986.

Survivors include a daughter, Rebecca Bradley, of Fort Wayne; three sons, Richard (Gail) Conwell, of San Diego, CA; Rodney (Barbara) Conwell, of Huntington; and Randy Conwell, of Wagoner, OK.; nine grandchildren, Karma Bradley, Kristi (Thom) Strait, Katherine (James) Fitzpatrick, Elizabeth (Nic) Grell, Kurt (Colleen) Conwell, Shawn (Ryan) Conwell, Dawn Conwell, Staci Conwell and Wendi Conwell; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Calling is Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, in Huntington. A service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Dec. 29, 2014, at 11 a.m. Interment will be at the Star of Hope Cemetery.
