Rev. Robert L.Traub

Rev. Robert L. Traub, 101, of Fort Wayne, IN, and a former resident of Huntington, IN, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, at St. Anne’s Retirement Center, Fort Wayne.

Rev. Traub attended St. Lawrence School, in Muncie; Columbia College, in Dubuque, IA; and St. Meinrad Seminary, in Indiana. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 3, 1939, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, in Fort Wayne and, after his ordination, earned a teaching degree from the University of Notre Dame.

He served as pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church, in Huntington, from 1970 to 1978. He had also served at St. Joan of Arc Church, in Kokomo; St. Joseph Memorial Hospital; St. Joseph Church, in Bluffton; St. Louis Church, in Besancon; St. John Bosco Church, in Churubusco; and Immaculate Conception Parish, in Ege. He had also taught at Catholic Central High School, in Hammond. He retired in 1978. After his retirement, he served as chaplain of Knights of Columbus Council 451 for many years.

He was born Aug. 23, 1913, in Muncie to Adam and Ann Traub.

Survivors include three brothers, Dave Traub, Edward (Francis) Traub and Jim (Jane) Traub; and three sisters, Ann Quakenbush, Martha Jean (Bill) Taylor and Marjorie Dooley.

Calling is Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with recitation of the rosary at 4:30 p.m., at St. Jude Catholic Church, 2155 Randallia Drive, Fort Wayne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the church on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, at 11 a.m., with calling beginning at 9:30 a.m. Most Rev. Kevin C. Rhodes will officiate. Burial will be at Beech Grove Cemetery, Muncie.
