Rex Thrift

Rex Thrift, 60, of Huntington, IN, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, at 7:30 p.m. at his home.

Mr. Thrift was a 1972 graduate of Huntington North High School. He was a sales manager at Shuttleworth in Huntington. He was a karate instructor at Universal Tang Soo Do School. In 2004, he was inducted into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame in Columbus, OH. He was also a member of the Huntington County Disaster Team and a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church.

He was born on Dec. 4, 1953, in Huntington, to Charles and Doris Thrift. He married Nancy Morrow on June 10, 1972, in Huntington, and she survives.

Additional survivors include a son, Travis Thrift, of Huntington; a daughter, Jennifer (Dale) Osborn, of Huntington; two sisters, Shirletta Tyler and Shannon (Mike) Sands, both of Huntington; six grandchildren, Demetri Thrift, Karlos Thrift, Jacob Osborn and Gabriel Osborn, all of Huntington, Matthew Osborn, of Denver, CO; Christine (Chad) Hagans, of Bowling Green, KY; and one great-grandchild.

Calling is Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Ron Rieder officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington.
