Thelma L. Proffitt

Thelma L. Proffitt, 95, of Huntington, IN, died Monday, June 16, 2014, at The Heritage of Huntington.

Mrs. Proffitt graduated from Rockford High School in 1934. She had been a member of College Park United Brethren Church for more than 50 years. She had worked at Schacht Rubber Company for more than 20 years and at the Huntington House for 10 years, retiring when she was in her mid-80s.

She was born Sept. 6, 1918, in Van Wert County, OH, to Eli and Bertha Bice Adams. She married Rev. Carl J. Proffitt in April of 1937, and he preceded her in death on July 19, 1956.

Survivors include two sons, Marvin (Donna) Proffitt, of Huntington, and David (Sheryl) Proffitt, of Kokomo; a daughter, Sara L. Hofstetter, of Geneva; six grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Calling is Thursday, June 19, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a service following at 1 p.m., at Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel. Rev. Paul Hirschy and Rev. Gary Dilley will officiate. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, in Rockford, OH.
