Eugene L. Doctor

Eugene Lewis Doctor, 88, of Fort Wayne, IN, and having family members in Huntington, IN, died Thursday, June 5, 2014, at his home.

Mr. Doctor attended Hoagland High School. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a guard at the Nuremburg trials. He was owner and operator of Doctor Trucking, in Fort Wayne, for many years and lived in Florida for two years while helping build the Daytona Speedway. He retired from International Harvester and had also hauled milk. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church-Soest and American Legion Post 296, in Fort Wayne.

He was born June 20, 1925, in Decatur to Arthur H. and Ella M. Kleine Doctor. He married Betty Marie Coomer on May 19, 1945, at the Woodburn Lutheran Church. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include three sons, Eugene (Jackie) Doctor and Douglas Doctor, both of Fort Wayne, and Gregory (Celena) Doctor, of Stuart, FL; three daughters, Becky (Dan) Greenwood, Debra (Martin) Wenzel-Hagerfield and Dina (Brian) Kiess, all of Fort Wayne; a brother, Marlin (Mildred) Doctor, of Huntington; a sister, Eileen (Dan) Spieth, of Fort Wayne; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A service was held on Monday, June 9, 2014, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church-Soest, with Rev. Kyle Krueger officiating. Burial, with military honors, was at Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
