Jeanette B. Fisher, 98, of Andrews, IN, died Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at 8:20 a.m. at Norwood Health and Rehabilitation, in Huntington.
Mrs. Fisher worked on the family farm until the farmland was absorbed by the construction of Salamonie Reservoir. Later, she was a homemaker and co-owned Treasure Island Discount House, in Huntington County. She had also worked as an enumerator for the United States Census Bureau in northeast Indiana and served on the local election board.
She was a member of Orange City United Methodist Church, in Orange City, FL, and recently attended Union Church, in Huntington, and Bethesda Free Will Baptist Church, in Andrews. She was a former member of Order of the Eastern Star, in LaFontaine.
She was born Oct. 22, 1915, in Wabash County to Walter and Frances Sprong Bowman. She married Mark Fisher on April 3, 1937, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 10, 1997.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathryn A. (Tom) Trisler, of Andrews; Glenn D. (Nylia) Fisher, of Andrews; a sister, Miriam Wright, of Scottsdale, AZ; a sister-in-law, Jean Bowman, of LaFontaine; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
Calling is Saturday, June 7, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a service following at 1 p.m., at Bethesda Free Will Baptist Church, 116 S. Main St., Andrews. Rev. Mark Hoffer and Rev. Rolla Blair will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Etna Cemetery, Huntington County.
