Roger L. Sparks

Roger L. Sparks, 60, of Marion, IN, and a native of Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at 2:57 p.m. at Marion General Hospital.

Mr. Sparks graduated from Huntington North High School in 1972. He retired from Wiley Metal, in Marion, where he had worked as a welding supervisor. He had previously worked at Wayne Metal, in Markle. He was a member of Amvets Post 5.

He was born April 24, 1954, in Huntington to Arthur and Ruby Lahr Sparks. His mother survives in Markle. He married Deeann E. Lamb on Oct. 22, 2004, and she survives.

Additional survivors include a son, Caleb (Sara) Sparks, of Illinois, and Frances (Brandon)Appleby, of Florida; three sisters, Dixie (Mark) Oldham, of Markle; Rita Kaehr, of Decatur; and Julia (Kenneth Gillespie) Sparks, of Marion; his father-in-law, Phil Henry, of Georgia; four brothers-in-law, Jeff Lamb, of Nappanee; Andy (Bonnie) Lamb, of Illinois; Steven (Ginger) Lamb, of Marion; and Monty (Marla) Lamb, of Fairmount; and a grandson, Braxton Hicks, of Florida.

Calling is Saturday, May 17, 2014, from noon to 4 p.m., with a service following at 4 p.m., at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion. Rev. Ron Hon will officiate.
