Doanld R. VanOsdale Jr.

Donald Raymond VanOsdale Jr., 68, of Monroeville, IN, and having family members in Roanoke, IN, died Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at 6:15 p.m. at his home.

Mr. VanOsdale was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers (I.U.O.E.) Local 103, in Fort Wayne. He worked as an operating engineer for many construction companies in northeast Indiana.

He was born Jan. 28, 1946, in Fort Wayne. He is survived by his parents, Donald VanOsdale Sr., of Fort Wayne, and Phyllis Minnich Lahrman, of New Haven. He married Sheri Aker on Feb. 2, 1985, and she survives.

Additional survivors include four sons, Thomas (Shauna) VanOsdale, of Roanoke; Brian (April) VanOsdale, of Hudson; Brandon (Amanda) VanOsdale, of Fort Wayne; and Seth VanOsdale, of Monroeville; two daughters, Lisa (Robert) VanZalen, of Sturgis, MI, and Shyla Aker, of Hoagland; two brothers, Winfield (Debbie) Freeman and Daniel Lahrman, both of New Haven; a sister, Diane (Arthur) Stolte, of Fort Wayne; nine grandchildren, Brooke, Taylor, Morgan, Trent, Siarra, Delaney, Zane, Alia and Caden; and one great-grandchild.

Calling is Wednesday, March 5, 2014, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville. A service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at 11 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service. Rev. Gene Brunow will officiate. Interment will be at the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery.
