Robert H. Boyle

Robert H. Boyle, 75, of Decatur, IN, and having family members in Huntington, IN, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at Adams Memorial Hospital, in Decatur.

Mr. Boyle taught and coached basketball at Decatur Catholic High School for two years. He retired in 1995 as a guidance counselor in the North Adams Community Schools. He officiated football, basketball, baseball, swimming and diving, track, cross country, wrestling and volleyball.

He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Knights of Columbus and Elks. He volunteered at Adams Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 2, 1938, in Huntington to Edwin J. and Helen L. Cull Boyle. He married Rosalie R. Owens on June 3, 1961, and she survives.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Gina (Greg) Logan and Bridget (Steve) Hankenson, both of Decatur; three sons, Daniel Boyle, of Billings, MT; Bradley (Lorinda Bowling) Boyle, of Decatur; and Jonathan (Blair) Boyle, of Alpharetta, GA; two brothers, D. Fred Boyle, of Fort Wayne, and David (Annie) Boyle, of Huntington; a sister, Susan (Steve) Zimmerman, of Fort Wayne; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Calling is Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, from 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., with recitation of the rosary at noon, at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home, 225 W. Adams St., Decatur. A service will be held on Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 414 W. Madison St., Decatur. Rev. David Voors will officiate. Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Decatur.
