Deloris I. Smith

Deloris I. Smith, 78, of Huntington, IN, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at 4 p.m. at the Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.

Mrs. Smith had worked for over 20 years in various positions at the Oak Lanes Bowling Center in Huntington. She was active in Huntington Youth Bowling for more than 40 years and was a member of the Huntington County Women's Bowling Association for more 50 years. She was a 1953 graduate of Bippus High School. She grew up in the Nazarene Church and most recently attended the Evangelical United Methodist Church.

She was born July 11, 1935, in Bippus to John F. and Blanche B. Comer Miller. She was married to Jack A. Smith on Sept. 7, 1958, in Huntington. Her husband survives.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Paula S. (Kevin) Rice of Roanoke; two brothers, Merrill Miller and Eldon (Karen) Miller, both of Huntington; and a grandson, Brenden Rice.

Calling is Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. William Rapp officiating. Interment will be at the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Huntington.
