Mary Jo Boles, 97, of Huntington, IN, died Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at 2:40 a.m. at Miller's Merry Manor.
Mrs. Boles graduated from Polk Township High School and attended Marion College and Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, where she received her registered nurse degree. She worked as a nurse at Marion Hospital and at Crossland Boy Scout Camp. She was a member of Troy Presbyterian Church, in Larwill, and attended Etna Avenue Wesleyan Church. She was a member of the Gideons International Auxiliary.
She was born May 26, 1916, in Andrews to Charles M. and Agnes Heiney Shelley. She married Chester Boles in Marion and he preceded her in death on Jan. 26, 1976.
Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis (Joe) Russell, of Marion; three sons, Chester David (Sherrill) Boles, of Cape Coral, FL; Chaney (Mary) Boles, of Garrett; and Rick (Brenda) Boles, of Columbia City; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Calling is Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., with a service following at 4 p.m., at Deal-Rice Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, 338 E. Washington St., Huntington. Rev. Tom Bradley will officiate. Burial will be Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Grant Memorial Cemetery, Marion.
