Roger A. Baker

Roger A. Baker, 62, of South Whitley, IN, and having ties to Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at 3:53 a.m. at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Mr. Baker was most recently employed by Bulldog Battery, in Wabash. He had also taught fifth and sixth grade social studies for two years and had worked at Heckman Bindery, in North Manchester; at Wabash Technologies; and at Group Dekko, in Merriam. He assisted with growing operations at Country View Greenhouse.

Mr. Baker graduated from South Whitley High School in 1969 and earned a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education from Huntington College in 1973. He was a member of the North Manchester Missionary Church, in North Manchester.

He was born Nov. 1, 1950, in Fort Wayne to Arthur R. and Ethel Mae Wine Baker. He married Mary E. Deneve on Aug. 21, 1970, and she survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Mark A. Baker and Ryan E. Baker, both of South Whitley.

Calling is Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 Ind.-114 W, North Manchester. A service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at 2 p.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at the Missionary Church, 806 Ind.-114 E, North Manchester. Burial will be at the South Whitley Cemetery, South Whitley.
