Ruby L. Fredericks

Ruby L. Fredericks, 89, of Huntington, IN, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at 4:05 p.m. at Parkview Huntington Hospital.

Mrs. Fredericks graduated in 1941 from Jefferson Township High School in Whitley County. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and was a lifetime member and past president of the VFW Post 2689 since 1962. During her time with the ladies auxiliary, she held every office including president, and she participated in the color guard. She retired from Memcor after working in production for several years.

During World War II, she worked at Willow Run Airport in Ypsilianti, MI, where she built B-24 airplanes.

She was born Dec. 17, 1923, in Whitley County to William F. and Clara Mae LeFever Grace. She married Robert Fredericks in 1972 in Huntington. He preceded her in death in 1992.

She is survived by a son, Donald L. (Shirley) Dinius, of Huntington; two daughters, Becky J. (Kevin) Yager, of Fort Wayne, and Connie (Greg) Buchholz, of Minster, OH; a sister, Irene (Walt) Rapp, of Houston, TX; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Calling is Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana, with the VFW Ladies Evening Service at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, at 10 a.m. the mortuary, with Rev. John Pfister officiating. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
