Junior M. Whitesell

Junior Marion Whitesell, 82, of Huntington, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at 3:35 p.m. at Oakbrook Village, Huntington.

Mr. Whitesell was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a truck driver for Sealtest and C&C Oil Company, as a supervisor at Orton Crane and in security and maintenance at Huntington Laboratories. He taught CPR and first aid for the American Red Cross.

He was born July 13, 1931, in Huntington to Cecil and Athena Belle Folk Whitesell. He married Karen Bir on Sept. 23, 1961, in Roanoke. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include five sons, Paul (Mickey) Whitesell, of Fort Wayne; Robert Raymond Whitesell, of Elkhart; Thomas Eugene (Tammy) Whitesell, of Pendleton; Michael Wayne (Melanie) Whitesell, of Decatur; and Daniel Lee (Mary) Whitesell, of Huntington; two daughters, Carol Sue (Bill) Richardson, of Huntington, and Joyce Ann Whitesell, of Marion; a brother, Robert David (Ruth Ann) Whitesell, of Lagro; and eight grandchildren, Jeremy Whitesell, Matt (Aarika) Whitesell, Tecia Whitesell, Trevor Whitesell, Trista Whitesell, Sasha (Josh) Werst, Arista Thieme and Steve (Amy) Thieme.

Calling is Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Deal-Rice Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, 338 E. Washington St., Huntington. Burial will be at a later date.
