Robert L. Hosier

Robert Lee Hosier, 85, of Huntington, IN, and Palmetto, FL, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at 9:47 a.m. at Manatee Memorial Hospital, Bradenton, FL.

Mr. Hosier served in the United States Navy during World War II. He retired from the Erie Railroad in 1984 after 36 years as an engineer. He was a member of the Masonic Amity Lodge 483, Huntington County Scottish Rite, Eastern Star, Mizpah Temple of Fort Wayne, American Legion, in Fort Wayne, USS Sierra Veterans Assn. and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689. He served 16 years on the township trustees advisory board.

He was born Jan. 23, 1928, in Huntington to Millard and Elsie Winkler. Afdter his parents preceded him in death in 1928, he was adopted by his aunt and uncle, Frank A. and Mary S. Winkler Hosier. His first marriage was to Alberta "Bertie" Emley on April 7, 1951. She preceded him in death on Dec. 30, 1989. His second marriage was to Carolyn Pence on Jan. 14, 1995. She survives in Palmetto, FL.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Beverly A. (James) Zollinger, of Fort Wayne; two stepsons, Douglas P. (Cynthia) Rose, of Brookville, OH, and Gregory L. (Teresa) Rose, of Springfield, OH; two grandsons, Brandon (Kim) Dalrymple and Nathan Dalrymple; two stepgranddaughters, Aimee Slattery and Katherine Rose; and five great-grandchildren.

Calling is Tuesday, April 16, 2013, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. Amity Lodge 483 will conduct services at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's First Community Church, 206 Etna Ave., Huntington, with Rev. Richard Strick officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's First Community Cemetery, Huntington.
